LCCH/UWL postgraduate diploma clinical hypnotherapy training course (PgDip)(PgDip - Postgraduate Diploma Clinical Hypnotherapy Syllabus (Level 7))
SummaryThe PgDip is open to those who have successfully completed the PgCert Clinical Hypnotherapy. It consists of two CPPD modules: These two modules teach advanced techniques that will enable practitioners to deal safely, confidently and effectively with more complex presenting symptoms, enabling students to build on knowledge gained on their PgCert studies. Each CPPD module is designed for part-time study and consists of eight teaching weekends over a period of 24 weeks supported by personal tutors. These two modules are normally taken consecutively, although they may be taken concurrently at the London centre. Either of the modules may also be taken individually by students who wish to expand on their professional expertise without wishing to gain the PgDip Clinical Hypnotherapy qualification. On successful completion of either CPPD module students will be awarded 30 credits each at academic Level 7. Successful completion of both of the core study CPPD modules at this level are required for the PgDip award. CPPD - Practitioner Studies (Level 7)The course is aimed at equipping the qualified hypnotherapist with powerful hypno/psychotherapeutic techniques for dealing with a wider and more complex range of medical, psychological and somatic presenting symptoms. Students will learn to compare, contrast and critically evaluate various techniques and therapies, thereby ensuring that they recognise the treatment that is appropriate for the individual and the condition itself. CPPD - Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Level 7)Cognitive and behavioural therapies are recognised by many clinicians as being at the cutting edge of therapy due to the wealth of empirical research carried out on them. The LCCH has developed a methodology integrating hypnosis with rational emotive behavioural approaches. This effective and active-directive process is based on the philosophy that people are not 'disturbed' by events but by the view they hold about those events. It aims to treat a variety of emotional and psychosomatic conditions. Teaching Methods and Special ResourcesEach CPPD is taught by means of teaching weekends, tutorial sessions and independent guided study. The focus is skills based experiential learning. Hypnosis skills and cognitive behavioural techniques are learned and practised on each respective course under the supervision of lecturers and designated supervisors. The tutorial sessions allow you to clarify any issues from the weekends and reflect on your self-development and present case studies for discussion and review. Students will be allocated a personal tutor, who will provide a point of contact throughout the course. Academic support will be provided by individual module leaders. AssessmentEach module is assessed by both formative and summative assessments. The formative assessments include role-play interventions with colleagues, a reflective diary, and on-going tutorials. The summative assessment in each module consists of a bona-fide case study (both courses), a fictitious case study (Practitioner Studies only), a short-answer paper (CBH only).
