Lots of relieved and smiling faces from the June Certificate Course after their exam (see photo below). Whilst everyone agreed that the exam was challenging, they did say that they felt they had valued it as a day of great learning and were amazed at how much they actually did know! John Stack (Independent Hypnotherapy Board Examiner) said that he was most impressed with the level of efficiency of the candidates.
Callum Ronald has a form of Muscular Dystrophy. He suffers from weakness in his arms and legs and has been in a wheelchair since the age of 12 (photo above). When asked why he was interested in this course Callum told us that up to the age of 12 he spent most of his time in hospitals. During that time his parents developed a strong belief in alternative therapy and both went on to train as therapists. “As a result, alternative therapy has been part of my life since then” said Callum. After being introduced to hypnotherapy, Callum realised he had both an interest and an affinity with hypnotherapy. Discovering that this was not a ‘hands on’ therapy, more to do with using his voice and his intellect, Callum soon understood that hypnotherapy was a form of practise his disability would not limit. The LCCH was recommended to him as the best training college and from first contact Callum says he found everyone extremely helpful. LCCH staff from the outset considered what factors and changes would allow Callum to access the building and participate in practical sessions. He was given lecture notes belonging to a previous student, as writing was somewhat difficult and tiring. His fellow students also took his difficulties in their stride. Just as for Milton H. Erickson, Callum has found that having a disability gave him a greater understanding of people and their problems. He feels that this course stretches both the student’s mind and increases their self-esteem. He has met new friends and found the whole experience extremely rewarding. Callum says: “I would recommend anybody with a disability interested in becoming a hypnotherapist to contact the LCCH. I believe that right from the start this has been a positive experience for me which will now continue with my Diploma Course Studies.” Another full attendance was reported at our May weekend Residential at Dod Mill in the beautiful Borders landscape (photo in next column). For those who missed out, the next event will be a weekend of Reiki training in October presented by Angela who is a Master Practitioner. |
Diary dates for 2002 Masterclasses in Glasgow will be ‘The Secrets of Success’ on Saturday 23rd February and ‘There’s Nothing Wrong With You’ on Sunday 24th February both presented by Angela at The Harvest Clinic.
Well, they did it! Angela and Graham (see photo below) were married on the beautiful Island of lona during the summer. The sun shone brilliantly, no small thanks due to lots of goal setting visualisation perhaps!! They would like to thank students past and present for the beautiful cards, gifts and good wishes sent. Angela Trainer (Principal of LCCH Scotland) and Graham Watts (a senior lecturer with LCCH) then set off for a cruise down the Nile in Egypt before returning to plan their ‘Habits, Dependency and Addiction Masterclass’ which they will co-present on Sunday 4th November in Glasgow.
Other good news from the Scottish centre is that Clare Walker (our previous administrator) is leaving us for now as she is expecting her first baby, due in January. All of our love and good wishes go to her and her partner David. Jo Nicholson, who is a supervisor and trainee lecturer for LCCH in Glasgow, is now working as a consultant from The Harvest Clinic in Glasgow. Welcome aboard Jo!
