Hypnobase
The Hypnotherapy Practice Database The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) can now provide a complete database solution for its registered members to help organise and structure the running of a therapy practice. Several members are currently beta testing versions of the software and last minute improvements are being made prior to its imminent release (possible already released by the time you read this). We are sure this is good news for many members and the best news of all is that if you are a registered BSCH member the software is completely free. If you have an internet connection it can be downloaded from the members area of the BSCH web site. For those people who do not yet have an internet connection the database will be available on a CD ROM, with a small charge made to cover the materials, packing and postage (approx. £3.00). The database is designed around 5 main sections: • Patient Details • Case History • Treatment Strategy • Appointments • Miscellaneous The Patient’s Details screen The Patient’s Details screen is where all the contact details of each new patient is entered and stored. There is also a section where the number of sessions taken can be recorded and whether payment has been made for these sessions. Other options from this screen allow the printing of Patient Details and Case History questionnaires that can be used away from the computer. The Case History screen The Case History screen is the place to enter all the case history notes. The screen is laid out with all the relevant questions you might need to ask. As mentioned above this screen can be printed in report form for use away from the computer. So that details can be entered later and the paper form filed. The Treatment Strategy screen |
There is an addition button on this screen called Follow Up Strategy which leads to an area that gives dates (based on the final session date) when you can contact the patient and make an assessment of the success of therapy. The Appointments Screen The Appointments Screen leads to an appointment maker and calendar. There seem to be a few stand-alone programs on the market that do this but many of them are too ‘feature rich’ and complex. The Appointment section in this database provides a simple calendar, where you can click on any particular day and then schedule your sessions. When this section starts up it lets you know if anything is pencilled for the current day. The Miscellaneous screen The Miscellaneous screen has a small assortment of features which may be added to in the course of time. Hopefully as the database gets wider practical use there will be feedback from members and suggestions for extra facilities. At the moment there is a button which allows the user to print out letterheads with the BSCH logo plus your name and the contact details of your current practice. There is also a button which leads to a small address database for your useful contact names and telephone numbers.
