UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH ACCREDITATION
COURSE CHANGES
As par t of the ongoing accreditation process with the University
of Greenwich the LCCH Certificate and Diploma courses and
examinations are changing. These changes are required to main-
tain the college’s academic accreditation with the University of
Greenwich. In order to demonstrate the student’s knowledge
and understanding of the course material the multiple-choice and
short-answer questions will be replaced by a one hour shor t–
answer paper. The oral and practical exams will be merged.
To assist LCCH student’s in their learning the college will be
introducing additional reflective work as par t of each weekend’s
course content. This reflective work will be designed to allow
students, tutors and course co-ordinators to monitor and man-
age the student’s progress through the course . These changes are
currently being considered and will be introduced over the next
few months and applied to courses and examinations taking place
after this summer. More information will be provided to students,
tutors and course co-ordinators in the near future. If you have
any questions please contact Maggie Chapman or Tod Cury at
the LCCH office.

ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW
ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY BUT WERE
AFRAID TO ASK
A Review of the
DIPLOMA IN CLINICAL HYPNOSIS DVD
by
Maggie Elmore
Peter Mabbutt, Director of Studies for LCCH, presents this no-non-
sense DVD. Not just a refresher for those of us who have gained,
(or are studying for), the Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis with LCCH
but also available to students from other colleges (proof of study
required when ordering) and for fully-fledged therapists who will
appreciate touching base with the rudiments of their profession.
This is absolutely not a DVD for the general public. There are no
tricks here , no sleight of hand, no hyperbole , no dimmed lights or
esoteric music to seduce the gullible layperson. It is the ethical
professional who will understand and appreciate the value of having
this storehouse of techniques, treatments, protocols, scripts, induc-
tions etc., at their fingertips. Many will be reminded of techniques
and approaches that have fallen out of awareness through not having
been used for some time .
The DVD is divided into five main sections making it quick and easy
to select a topic or an aspect of a particular subject.
(1) General Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.
(2) Inductions and Deepeners
(3) Special Presenting Conditions.
(4) Therapeutic Techniques.
(5) Hypnotherapy Scripts.
In Section (1) Peter covers thirty topics ranging from’ Hemispheric
Functioning of the Brain’, ‘Ethical Practice’,’ Ericksonian Techniques’,
‘Massed Practice’, ‘Psychodrama/Hypnodrama’ finishing with
‘Therapy- Bringing it All Together’.
Peter’s students, past and present, will be struck afresh by the
breadth of his knowledge. Those discovering him for the first time
will know immediately that they are in the safe hands of a therapist
who knows his subject inside out.
For Section (2) Peter enlists the help of two other LCCH luminaries,
Maggie Chapman, Director of Academic Assessments and Avy Joseph,
Director of Development. The inductions explained and demon-
strated include Rapid Eye De-focus, Magnetic Field, Pattern Breaking
and many others.
The Special Presenting Conditions of Section (3) include
Performance Anxiety, OCD’s, Bulimia, Smoking, Asthma, Depression,
Dystonia and many, many more . Once again Peter explains the condi-
tion in detail and we are given tantalising glimpses of Maggie and Avy
conducting “therapy”.
More than for ty therapeutic techniques are put under the spotlight
in Section (4). These include Dissociations and Regressions as well as
Creativity Enhancement and Problem Solving.
Section (5) gives half a dozen useful hypnotherapy scripts including
Stop Smoking to which viewers can refer.
The DVD is on one dual layer disc and was filmed using high defini-
tion video and will work on any domestic TV or computer monitor.
With Christmas fast approaching this DVD would make an excellent
gift for the hypnophile in your household.
