| Birmingham Congratulations on the appointment of David Valencia as the LCCH Course co-ordinator for the Midlands region. David has a background and training in psychiatry and is a full-time practising psychotherapist and hypnotherapist. As well as organising the last Certificate course and the present on-going Diploma - which will lead on to the P.G.D early next year - David has also undergone the LCCH comprehensive teacher training programme at our UCE venue in Birmingham. Students on the present Diploma in Birmingham have already organised their own study groups to meet and practise and pool their knowledge; this is in addition to their compulsory supervision/tutorial. Finally, the LCCH shall shortly recommence their training programmes in Nottingham. You can contact David on 0115-846 9009. Manchester Jane Bannister, our North West course co-ordinator writes: Here in Manchester we have been fortunate enough to find a beautiful new venue for our training courses at Manchester Royal Infirmary, one of the major teaching hospitals in the area. We really enjoy playing host to those of you who are visiting us to catch up on a missing weekend on your own local course, or to do a Masterclass with us. The London College of Clinical Hypnosis, despite its unfortunate name, is a nationwide training organisation. The Provinces as Michael Joseph once referred to us, add their own unique style to student experience, as I am sure my colleagues from Exeter to Glasgow will agree. Here in Manchester we are renowned for our friendliness. Comments from visiting students are unanimously on the lines of "everyone was so helpful" and "I felt really welcomed and looked after". This is due to the efforts of our dedicated team of friendly and helpful lecturers, Maurice Sterndale, Margaret Cook, Ruth Baruch and David Deegan, all of whom came through the LCCH teacher training programme. Maurice, who runs a successful private practice in Oldham, is remarkable for his ability to inspire students with his presentation of many of his case histories. He is our local expert on hypnotherapy for the relief of arthritic pain, having used self-hypnosis to good effect on himself. Margaret specialises in the area of performance enhancement, not just thespians seeking help for stage fright but also sports persons, one of whom is an olympic athlete. This shows that we in Manchester have forgiven the Olympic Committee for its bizarre decision in choosing to hold the 2000 Games with a backdrop of Sidney Harbour, instead of the more picturesque Manchester Ship Canal. I want to thank all LCCH and non-LCCH delegates throughout the country who rang me with inspiring tales of how they put the PNI techniques to good use and hope to see many familiar faces on PNI Part ll. York |
Congratulations are also in order for the recent York, Leeds and Newcastle Certificate students who, by passing their Certificate exam, are now eligible to start on the next Diploma in York. Due to the increasing public interest in hypnotherapy training we shall be adding Sheffield to our list of Certificate venues.
