Hypnosis in psychiatry

Lecturer: Dr Anna Zohrabian

This Masterclass is designed to provide therapists with important guidelines in assessing patients who wish to be treated by hypnotherepy.

The Masterclass will provide comprehensive information on the differential diagnosis of the most commonly presented psychiatric conditions and their symptoms, etiology, influencing factors and main lines of therapeutic intervention. It is important for therapists to have the knowledge and understanding of these symptoms and conditions in order to find the right technique and approach, and to make the right decision as to whether the patient presenting with that particular symptom should be treated by hypnosis.

The vital issue of when hypnotherapeutic intervention will be of benefit to the patient and when it is contraindicated will be discussed. We shall also cover in detail the theoretical aspects of various neuroses and anxiety neurosis in particular. Practical aspects of the treatment plan in general, as well as specialised techniques used in the treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD's, will be discussed.

Based on Dr Zohrabian's vast clinical data and extensive personal experience in the field of psychiatry this Masterclass will benefit practitioners interested in broadening their range of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of neuroses in general, and anxiety disorders in particular. Interesting case histories will also be discussed as an aid to help therapists improve their clinical judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of their patients.
