NEWS FROM SCOTLAND
Whetted Appetite

Glasgow's Certificate course was as popular as ever again, the clinic had a full house this March. Students have backgrounds ranging from professional musicians and lecturers to psychologists. All of them thoroughly enjoyed the unique learning experience. We have a feeling next year’s Diploma is going to be a very busy one!
Masterclasses at The Harvest Clinic, Glasgow, will be ‘A Weight Off Your Mind’ (advanced approaches to weight control) on 30th November and ‘Hypno-Energy’ (bioenergetics and improving your connection with clients) on 1st December presented by Angela Trainer (Principal of LCCH Scotland). Angela is pictured with Rubin Battino, who was recently in Glasgow, presenting his ‘Guided Imagery’ Masterclass. All agreed it was a great success and hope Ruben will return in the future.
And if those topics don't inspire you, maybe 'Step by step' would be more up your street. This two-day personal development programme will incorporate goal setting, people skills, motivation to peak performance and developing self-esteem. It will teach you how to deliver the ‘Step by Step’ programme to individuals or groups yourself. 'Step by Step' will be held at the Harvest Clinic in February 2003.
Glorious Dod Mill in the Scottish borders was the venue for Reiki I this April. For those of you who missed out the next Reiki weekend will be April 2003, presented by Angela who is a Master Practitioner. This is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all and try something different, yet entirely complimentary to the therapeutic process. Dod Mill is an idyllic rural retreat in the Scottish Borders, thirty miles south of Edinburgh. It is a quiet place of natural beauty set amongst trees and a stream.

It's a Small World

Nancy Adams studied for and gained her Diploma last year in Glasgow. Wanting to begin practising as soon as possible, Nancy decided to become a volunteer. Coming from Aberdeen, she visited CLAN House, the cancer support centre, where she volunteered her services as a hypnotherapist. Whilst being informed that they already had a hypnotherapist, Ronald the resident therapist passed by and was introduced to Nancy.

Within their brief conversation, it was discovered that Ronald knew Angela Trainer, with whom Nancy had studied for her Certificate.

Angela had been a guest lecturer on his hypnotherapy and counselling courses in the Algarve, Portugal, four years ago. After chatting about Angela, both past and present they agreed to meet up again to allow Ronald to share his knowledge and experience with Nancy. Ronald specializes in working with cancer patients, seeing between six and seven hundred cases last year, and also in post traumatic stress disorder. Nancy divides her time between working as a radiographer in Aberdeen and her hypnotherapy practice just outside the city.

New Faces

The Scottish Centre would like to welcome Thea Gibb and Tony Lappin who have both joined the team. Thea comes to us from a background in Education and Advertising and is already benefitting from the more relaxed atmosphere at the Harvest Clinic. Looking for a career change, Thea will commence the Certificate course in September. Tony Lappin has also joined the team at the Harvest Clinic as a Consultant Hypnotherapist. From a background originally in Social Work and Counselling, Tony did some of his training in the Emerald Isle at St Patrick's College, Dublin. He holds a Diploma in Adult Education, and an Advanced Certificate in Counselling. Tony gained his Diploma from the LCCH with distinction in l999, followed therafter by his Practitioner Course. Tony is also a supervisor for the LCCH.

Graham Watts, Angela's husband and partner in the Harvest Clinic, is currently involved as consultant to two major Drug Initiatives in Glasgow and Edinburgh incorporating hypnotherapy into the Drug Withdrawal Management Programme for drug users. Graham has over twenty years’ experience of working within the addiction field and with his expertise in the Hypnotherapy arena, is managing both areas together. Both schemes are the first of their type in Scotland and will hopefully open floodgates for many of our students in years to come, working within this valuable and rewarding area.

We would also like to thank all the supervisors for their hard work and dedication.
