| International Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis On the 19th of October 2002 the LCCH commenced its first International Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis in Lisbon, Portugal. The course is being presented over ten weekends and represents a condensed version of the current Certificate and Diploma courses. The International Diploma has been developed in response to the many requests we have had to teach our courses abroad. Also, many of our UK trained students have been (and currently are) foreign nationals, and their general opinion appears to be that the LCCHs approach and quality of training would be highly valued within their country of origin. Lisbon represents the first step along this path, with negotiations under way to take the International Diploma course to countries as far afield as Australia, Hungary, and South Africa. Teaching the course material in a foreign country presents an exciting challenge, especially in those countries for whom English is not the first language. As a result, translated versions of the course notes have been prepared and will be given in conjunction with their English counterpart. As each country has its own specific laws with regard to the practice of hypnotherapy, these too need to be taken into consideration and the course adapted accordingly. As many of you are aware, in some countries the law states that hypnotherapy can only be practised by those holding a medical degree. This may seem to preclude from lecturing those on the LCCH staff who do not possess such a qualification. However, as far as we are aware, such laws do not apply to the teaching of hypnotherapy by non-medical practitioners. Students who successfully complete the International Diploma may wish to take on membership of the BSCH. The College is currently negotiating with the Society in order to determine which level of membership they will be able to attain (with, perhaps, a new category of International Member being created). The International Diploma is not the LCCHs first foray into international training. We have had an international presence for many years presenting workshops and short courses at various venues around the world. However, as these have always been aimed at existing practitioners the International Diploma has been designed to provide a qualification for those completely new to the field of hypnotherapy and who subsequently wish to set up in a practice of their own. Practitioner Diploma The new format six-weekend Practitioner Diploma course will be starting in London on the 1st February 2003. The current four-weekend syllabus will be upgraded and extended to include: understanding and working with various trauma-based symptoms, including sexual abuse; new hypnotherapeutic techniques; an extended range of presenting symptoms, including ADD/ADHD and allergies. For those practitioners who have already completed the four-weekend course we will be running a two-weekend upgrade course later in 2003. Graduates will be pleased to know that the Practitioner Diploma now carries six (6) BSCH CPD credits and has been accepted by the British Association of Medical Hypnosis (BAMH) as a qualification for Affiliate Membership. MASTERCLASSES Whilst the BSCH accredits many other relevant training programmes for their own CPD requirements, the LCCH is always delighted to present their own Masterclasses, most of them presented by LCCH lecturers. However, we are always on the look-out for new talent, and we would like to invite Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy practitioners from non-LCCH organizations to present Masterclasses on our behalf. Our current list includes a two-day Neuro-Semantics (NLP) Masterclass/Workshop presented by Dr B. Bodenhammer, co-author of The Users Manual For The Brain, believed to be the most comprehensive NLP manual to date (and now recommended reading for LCCH students).
Other new Masterclasses include Personality Restructuring and PTSD by Dr Dale Beckett; Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) by Denise Stoneham; Voice Coaching for Hypnotherapists by Josephine Hamilton; Maximizing Performance through Clinical Hypnosis by Maureen Kiely and Enhancing Emotional Intelligence by Ursula James. |
