THE PRACTITIONER DIPLOMA

Masterclasses
The LCCH presents frequent Masterclasses on topics of interest where individuals from other hypnotherapy organisations are also invited to attend. People who have trained with the LCCH are able to keep in touch at these meetings and can meet and discuss new ideas and techniques with fellow hypnotherapy professionals. Our Masterclasses provide an ideal opportunity for such periodic contact.
Diplomate membership
This prestigious level of membership is available to those who are in possession of their Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis (or equivalent) and have satisfied the criteria for DIPLOMATE status as determined by the faculty of the LCCH (currently a 5000 word dissertation). DIPLOMATE status will duly be recorded on both their Practitioner Diploma and British Society of Clinical Hypnosis Certificate of Registration.
British Society of Clinical Hypnosis
The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) is a professional body which governs the Code of Practice and Ethics of its Members. Membership of the BSCH is open to those who have acquired the requisite Professional and Clinical Training in the major aspects of hypnotherapy.
Holders of the Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis (D.Hyp.) shall be accepted for Associate Membership of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis - BSCH(Assoc).
Full Membership shall be open to Associates who undertake the required further training - within four years of passing their Diploma exam. Full Members are entitled to use the designating letters MBSCH.
Members of the BSCH are required to sign a formal Code of Conduct, thus maintaining the highest ethical standards of professional practice within the field of hypnotherapy.
Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist
Fellows, Diplomate, Full, Associate and Affiliate members of the BSCH are entitled to be registered on the British Society Register of Clinical Hypnotherapists, for referral of patients. Such members may refer to themselves as "Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist". No designating letters accompany this title.
British Association of Medical Hypnosis (BAMH)
The British Association of Medical Hypnosis is primarily a medical organisation. Full membership of the BAMH is open only to holders of a medical or dental degree (e.g. MB BS or BDS). However, the Society will accept non-medical members as Affiliates and Associates.
On successful completion of the Practitioner Diploma Exam candidates will be entitled to Affiliate membership of the BAMH and are expected to join the Society to enable their names to be placed on it's Medical Register. Affiliates must hold the PDCHyp. And also need to have completed at least one full year's membership of their own appropriate hypnotherapy society/association. In addition, they must be proposed by two members of the BAMH.
Affiliates will be requested to submit two case histories each year - taken from their own practice - outlining the presenting condition, the hypnotherapeutic method used for treatment, and the clinical outcome. The format for submission of case histories will be as directed by the Executive Committee of the BAMH. Associate membership will be available after a period of three years' affiliation.
The LCCH believes that a medical body with strict educational and postgraduate educational requirements, a code of ethics, and a complaints and disciplinary procedure is the way forward for the hypnotherapeutic profession in countries which currently lack formal legislation. The BAMH also accepts non-medical members and therefore does not restrict the criteria of associate membership to any discipline other than clinical hypnosis. A dialogue between the UK government and such an organisation may well lead to overdue legislation to regulate the activities of hypnotherapy practitioners.
European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis
The EJCH is recognised throughout the world as among the leading publications in the field of clinical hypnotherapy. It is a publication which we feel no serious practitioner should be without. It provides a forum within which hypnotherapists can communicate with their peers and keep abreast of developments in the profession.
